Community Alert - Harrogate

We are aware of reports of individuals attempting car and door handles in the Harrogate area to identify unsecured vehicles and properties.

Please take a few moments to help protect your home and belongings:

Ensure all external doors and windows are closed and LOCKED, even when you are at home.

LOCK your vehicle whenever it is unattended, including when parked on your driveway.

REMOVE all valuables from vehicles, including bags, wallets, mobile phones, and any items left on display.

Do not leave vehicle keys near doors, windows, or within sight.

Consider using exterior lighting, CCTV, or other security measures where available.

Many opportunist thefts occur when vehicles or properties are left UNSECURED. Taking these simple precautions can significantly reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime.

If you witness any suspicious behaviour or individuals checking door or vehicle handles, please report it to North Yorkshire Police via 101, online, or call 999 if a crime is in progress.

Thank you for helping to keep our community safe.
